The start of the new rugby season is fast approaching with the first league match for the 1stXV at home 3pm on 2nd September against Dumfries Saints.
This also officially marks the start of our agreement with our new Principal Sponsor, Harry Fairbairn BMW and MINI, part of the Arnold Clark Group. While they were previously a silver package sponsor, they have now kindly agreed to be our Principal Sponsor for the next 3 years.
Soon you will see the Harry Fairbairn BMW and MINI name & logos in our matchday programmes, on our website, on sign boards and posters throughout the Club, and of course on the front of the 1stXV rugby shirts as can be seen from the photograph below.
The Club is most grateful to Harry Fairbairn BMW and MINI for supporting us in this way, and it would be much appreciated if in turn members could support them, when purchasing a car, by taking a look at what BMW and MINI have to offer at their showrooms in Giffnock.
In the meantime, posters will be going up in the Clubhouse shortly featuring our new Principal Sponsor and showing the names/logos of our other 40 Sponsors for the coming season. We are also indebted to all of them and would ask that members give these businesses their patronage as often as they can. If you do please let them know that you are from WRC.
While many companies have renewed with us, and their names will be familiar to you, there are also some newcomers such as the Newton Mearns Retirement Village – which is sponsoring the back of the 1stXV rugby shirts – The DRM Consultancy, Royal India Restaurant, Caulders Braidbar Garden Centre, The Capelrig Hungry Horse and The Whitecraigs Golf Club.
With reference to The Whitecraigs Golf Club, we have an arrangement with them whereby the rugby club receives a sponsorship payment every time one of our members joins their Club as an associate or full member, at youth or adult level. So, if you are looking to join a golf club please consider Whitecraigs and if joining them let Davies Elder or me know so that we can claim the sponsorship payment.
Finally, there are currently 7 offers and/or discounts available to members from Sponsors and these can be viewed on the Club’s website under the menu heading ‘Sponsors’. These come from Arnold Clark, Nicol Estate Agents, Vets4Pets, Charles Frazer Quality Meats, Elegance & Beauty, Mearns Castle Golf Academy and McCarthy & Stone. Please check them out and take advantage of them.

The Sponsorship & Advertising team have once again been fortunate enough to secure the support of an excellent list of sponsors & advertisers for the season, as can be seen from the matchday programmes, pitchside/beer garden boards and the posters (see below) around the clubhouse.
“Please support our Sponsors, as they support us”
As these Sponsors are supporting us, it would be much appreciated if members and their families could give them as much business as possible.
You can do this by shopping with them; booking holidays; rent or buy cars; hire taxis; search for and buy a house; and by obtaining various services and types of professional advice.
When you do any of these please, please take a moment to tell them that you are from Whitecraigs Rugby Club. Sponsors want to know if their advertising is working and this is the best way to let them know.
Should any member purchase a large amount of goods (200 sausages, 5 kilts, etc) from one of our sponsors or purchase a particularly big item (a car, a house, a ton of concrete!) then perhaps they could tell me as this would be useful to know for similar reasons.
Please remember that we have loyalty discount cards available from Charles Frazer Quality Meats and Elegance & Beauty, both in The Avenue. Also from Mearns Castle Golf Academy we have cards for ‘2 for 1 Tee Times’ and a driving range offer of ‘Buy 50 balls, Get 50 free’. All of these are available to members of the Club through Graeme Scott or me, and there is also a limited stock behind the bar.
In addition, this season there are some offers in the Matchday Programme. As you will see McCarthy & Stone is offering a £15 Marks & Spencer voucher when you visit and take a tour at ‘Greenwood Grove’ their new development just down the road from the club at the Greenlaw roundabout. Also Chequered Flag is offering a free trial lesson when booking a driving course. Please see the advertisements in the Programme for the terms & conditions that apply.
