U16s at home v Greenock Wanderers for preliminary round of U16 West Regional Cup on 29th January
It’s the last session of 2016 at Whitecraigs, where we celebrate the Festive Season with a party involving games, noise, fun and food. If you haven’t had a chance to buy a ticket, please let me know and I will make sure that Santa has a present for your son, or daughter on the day. Anne O’Donnell, Julie Cunningham, Rachael Fishlock and myself are all organising matters, so if you would like to contribute your time, cooking, or games ideas, please let any of us know. We’ll kick off at 11.30hrs and finish at 13.00hrs, with a half hour clean up to allow the P4-5’s their Christmas mayhem.
Thanks for supporting us through 2016 and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, or in the New Year. Our target return date is Sunday 15th January 2017, 11.30 to 12.30hrs (inside, or outside).
Yours in rugby,
Jon Jewitt – 07989 502 810.
Let’s hope we get the same magnificent weather again this Sunday for Micros Training. As usual, we meet and register in the Players Bar – can I ask that we all stay in the Players Bar as a lot of the Micros are in the habit of going straight to the pitch and not registering – at 11.15hrs and then on the pitch from 11.30hrs to 12.30hrs.
I mentioned at the end of training last week our emphasis on Child Protection, given the current issues prevalent in the news, where our Policy will soon be posted within the website to show everyone our safeguards and procedures on such matters.
On a lighter note, we have the Christmas Party on Sunday 18th December 2016, instead of training. Please could you bring a crisp £5.00 to cover the cost of the rugby related gift for the Micros. Volunteers are always appreciated and thanks to those parents who have stepped forward to offer support for this event.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Yours in Rugby,

Welcome to my first entry of the new website, which will get better each time we use it. Micros will take place at the usual time, with registration at 11.15hrs and on the pitch/in the hall at 11.30hrs to 12.30hrs. Please ensure that the children are dressed appropriately and have trainers as well as boots.
It’s the Christmas Party on the 18th December 2016, with tickets at £5.00 to cover the purchase of a rugby related gift. Volunteers are sought for the catering, security and clean up, so please let us know if you can help.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Yours in rugby, Jon Jewitt, 07989 502 810
Welcome to the new Whitecraigs Rugby Club website!
Early days still in terms of content but we will be continuing to migrate, and add new content, over the course of the season.
We will no longer be making any updates on Pitchero, but the old site is still available and can be reached here.
All of our news updates will be broadcast on the our updated social media accounts too, so please check them out and support the club:
We also welcome any comments and suggestions via twitter or facebook or by email at email@example.com
Micros are back in training this Sunday with the usual time for registration at 11.15hrs in the Player’s Bar and then on the pitch from 11.30hrs to 12.30hrs.
Could I ask that once registered you stay in the Players Bar and we all go down to the pitch together as many players are going straight down to the pitch and we are unable to complete the registration process? This would be very helpful.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
Yours in Rugby,
The Sponsorship & Advertising team have once again been fortunate enough to secure the support of an excellent list of sponsors & advertisers for the season, as can be seen from the matchday programmes, pitchside/beer garden boards and the posters (see below) around the clubhouse.
“Please support our Sponsors, as they support us”
As these Sponsors are supporting us, it would be much appreciated if members and their families could give them as much business as possible.
You can do this by shopping with them; booking holidays; rent or buy cars; hire taxis; search for and buy a house; and by obtaining various services and types of professional advice.
When you do any of these please, please take a moment to tell them that you are from Whitecraigs Rugby Club. Sponsors want to know if their advertising is working and this is the best way to let them know.
Should any member purchase a large amount of goods (200 sausages, 5 kilts, etc) from one of our sponsors or purchase a particularly big item (a car, a house, a ton of concrete!) then perhaps they could tell me as this would be useful to know for similar reasons.
Please remember that we have loyalty discount cards available from Charles Frazer Quality Meats and Elegance & Beauty, both in The Avenue. Also from Mearns Castle Golf Academy we have cards for ‘2 for 1 Tee Times’ and a driving range offer of ‘Buy 50 balls, Get 50 free’. All of these are available to members of the Club through Graeme Scott or me, and there is also a limited stock behind the bar.
In addition, this season there are some offers in the Matchday Programme. As you will see McCarthy & Stone is offering a £15 Marks & Spencer voucher when you visit and take a tour at ‘Greenwood Grove’ their new development just down the road from the club at the Greenlaw roundabout. Also Chequered Flag is offering a free trial lesson when booking a driving course. Please see the advertisements in the Programme for the terms & conditions that apply.
Good afternoon from a calm reasonable day at West Lodge
This weekend the majority of our teams are competing against Biggar. The 1st XV are away at Hartree Mill and looking to atone from their home defeat to Preston Lodge, last Saturday. It was a game of two halves and it was only in the second half that Craigs played with the determination that they have shown all season. However owing to a resolute defence and some poor decision making we were not able to make up the first half deficit. So tomorrow is a chance to make amends but it will not be an easy task as Biggar are a difficult side to beat especially on their home turf. Bus leaves at 12 noon.
The 2nds are at home to Clydebank. The under18s are also away to Biggar with a 2pm ko.
On Sunday the Micros are training at the usual time. The Minis are away to Lenzie. The S1 and S2 teams are home to Biggar and the u15 and u16 teams are away to Biggar.
Whitecraigs are keen to promote an initiative through Alzheimer Scotland called “Rugby Memories” to offer members, friends of members, neighbours to participate in monthly/weekly sessions at the Club to reminisce on rugby stories. Other Clubs have had great results inviting people who have been involved in the game to their clubhouses who have suffered from memory loss and Alzheimer’s Disease to recall players, teams, ties and stories from the past. Trained volunteers will be on hand to start and stimulate the debate. What a better way to offer a much needed service to the Community. If you are interested in volunteering, or know anyone who would benefit from this experience, please contact Jon Jewitt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
