Craigs News 15th/16th February

Good Evening from a wintry West Lodge, It has been a while since our last newsletter but we will commence again but not every week. One of the issues with a newsletter is that you need news! There has been a drop off in Club information getting to me so if any section in the Club wants their news to be circulated to the members, please e-mail secretary@whitecraigs.org.
The awful weather recently has meant there has not been much rugby played in January. The 1st XV return to action (hopefully) on Saturday with an away game to Hamilton with a 3pm kick off.
Believe it or not the 2ndXV have their last scheduled game of the season at home on Saturday against Dalziel at home with kick off at 3pm. The 2nd XV have already won their league in convincing style and congratulations to them.
The under 18 team have a cup fixture at home against Cartha at home on Saturday with a 2pm kick off. On Sunday the u16s play GHA and u15s play West of Scotland both cup games with a 2pm kick off.
I am delighted to announce that Kenny Agnew has stepped into the breach and taken over the role of Membership Convenor from Mike Lamont. Many thanks to Mike for his years of patient and diligent work getting our membership system into a manageable system. Thanks Kenny for volunteering and there are plenty of other roles that need filled, so do not be shy contact Percy or myself – YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
A couple of social items – on the 29th February we are having a 70’s disco Fever night with tickets available through the our usual social media. The ever growing women and girls section, Panthers are having a ABBA tribute night on the 28th March again with tickets being available through social media.
I am sad to report the passing of David Bean, last weekend. David was a long timeĀ member of the Club but his sporting prowess lay with the bat and ball. He played cricket for many years with Hillhead High School FP and was a regular attendee at our Spot of Lunch Club. His funeral will take place the Linn Crematorium on Tuesday 18th February at 12 noon. Our sympathies are with his wife Lynne and the remainder of his family.
Finally, please use our sponsors and mention that you are from the rugby club, it makes a massive difference when our sponsorship team are trying to renew with them.
Have a great weekend.
Graeme
