Good Afternoon from a windy and wet West Lodge,
No, do not check the date, it is not Friday but it is Wednesday! I am writing the weekly blog this week today as I am off to Twickenham tomorrow for the Calcutta Cup on Saturday.
Huge game for the 1st XV on Friday when the boys travel to Old Anniesland to play GHK under the lights on Friday night with 8.00pm kick off. GHK are bound to have a big support on the touchline and our boys could do with your help. This one, we could win, as the last game the result was only decided with the final play of the game. Any points gained on Friday night would be very valuable in the relegation tussle at the foot of the table.
On Saturday the u18 team are away to Biggar in the Shield semi-final with a 11.30am kick off. The boys have been training hard for this one look to end the season with a flourish.
On Sunday all the Midi team have training but no games. The P4 to P7 boys have a home game v Cambuslang. The Micros are training at the Clun at 11.30 am.
As I mentioned last week there are teams fundraising for their upcoming tours. The under 15s have their log sale and u18s are having a fund raising night on the 30th March. Please support the teams.
The squash section are into their penultimate week and all teams are going well. This could possible mean that we could have the highest placings in the leagues for all our teams.
This weekend is “Super Saturday” as the Six Nations reaches its climax and Club’s TV’s will be showing all 3 matches. We are also hosting a reception for the Club Sponsors, commencing at 3.45pm and running on through the England v Scotland game. The sponsorship team will be utilising a reserved area in the Lounge for this important event and it would be very much appreciated if members could adhere to the signage. Sponsors are hugely important part of our income and we need to look after them.
Jon Jewitt has asked me to mention that along with Chris Porteous and five others they are taking part in the Ride of Legends for Doddie Weir on Sunday 11th August. This is a 93 mile!!! ride and anyone interested should register themselves through the link below using the Team Name of Whitecraigs Rugby Club and tell Jon when you have registered –
Once again thanks for your support of Whitecraigs Rugby Club and have a great weekend.
