Good Morning from a very bright but chilly West Lodge,
The weather has turned Spring like and hopefully the pitches will have dried out in enough time for a feast of rugby on Saturday at West Lodge.
The 1st XV have an important BT National 2 fixture v Aberdeenshire with a win securing our position in the league for next season. I know that all the players and coaching staff are aware of the task in hand and will be pulling out all stops to get the win.
The 2nd XV are at home also with a game v Allan Glens and a win will keep the pressure on the league leaders, East Kilbride. Finally on Saturday the under 18 team play Newton Stewart in the final of the West Regional Bowl with a 1pm ko.
These are important games so your touchline support would be very welcome and it does make a difference. Also on Saturday the S1/S2 teams are having a car wash commencing at 1.30pm in aid of their upcoming Tour to Ireland at the end of April.
On Sunday the Micros are at their usual time of 11am. The Minis are entertaining Dalziel and Birkmyre so it will be a busy Clubhouse. The under16’s are at Marr for a final in the West Youth leagues.
MenZone the Gents Barbers offer a wide range of hair services for boys and men from their cutting edge salon at 47 Eastwoodmains Road diagonally opposite Williamwood Railway Station. They also have their own range of MenZone hair products. While for example a Cut & Finish is normally £11.00 for men, £8.50 for senior men and £9.50 for 16-19 year olds, they are offering members of WRC a 10% discount.
Well done to those groups who have already booked their fund raising nights in aid of the floodlighting and drainage on Pitch 3. This development when completed will make a huge difference for our Junior sections as Pitch 3 will be a dedicated area for them. If you can, support these functions as every pound collected will go towards the project.
The guests in the Boardroom for lunch tomorrow are our main sponsors Old Pultney Single Malt Whisky and Caorunn Gin. They are coming to end of their three year tenure as main sponsors and we would like to thank them for their valued support over this period. They have also provided invaluable assistance for our Beer Festival. Their products are available behind the bar and I can assure they are well worth tasting!
As usual I will make my weekly plea for Volunteer helpers – if you can give 1 hour a week in some fashion it will make a difference. Please speak to myself, our President Jon Jewitt or Vice President Craig “Percy” Percival that is if they ever stop their perpetual motion when involved in all matters pertaining to the Club.
Have a great weekend and I hope you can get down and support one of our teams.
Yours in rugby
