Snow and frozen pitch makes the game impossible to play.
We return to training after the Festive Break on Sunday 15th January 2017. With the weather the way it looks now it will probably be indoors, so please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for indoor, or outdoor options.
Registration is at 11.15hrs and on the pitch, or in the hall for 11.30hrs to 12.30hrs.
See you Sunday,

Welcome back everyone and a Happy New Year to you all.
I hope that you all had a great Festive Break and are looking forward to running a few calories off.
Training returns on the 15th January 2017, with registration at 11.15hrs and on the pitch, or in the hall at 11.30hrs until 12.30hrs, so please make sure the players have the appropriate footwear and clothing for the options we face at this time of the year.
I am also going to appeal for more volunteers with coaching, in particular female volunteers as we would like to encourage female players to participate in rugby at Whitecraigs. What better message to put out than to have female coaches, so please just take part if you can.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday 15th January 2017, although Whitecraigs First XV are playing at Cartha Queen’s Park this Saturday if you wish to come along and support the Boys in the Southside derby. Kick off 14.00hrs at Dumbreck.

It’s the last session of 2016 at Whitecraigs, where we celebrate the Festive Season with a party involving games, noise, fun and food. If you haven’t had a chance to buy a ticket, please let me know and I will make sure that Santa has a present for your son, or daughter on the day. Anne O’Donnell, Julie Cunningham, Rachael Fishlock and myself are all organising matters, so if you would like to contribute your time, cooking, or games ideas, please let any of us know. We’ll kick off at 11.30hrs and finish at 13.00hrs, with a half hour clean up to allow the P4-5’s their Christmas mayhem.
Thanks for supporting us through 2016 and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, or in the New Year. Our target return date is Sunday 15th January 2017, 11.30 to 12.30hrs (inside, or outside).
Yours in rugby,
Jon Jewitt – 07989 502 810.
Good Morning from unseasonally warm December day at West Lodge,
Well the 1st XV served up a real Festive treat last Saturday with an outstanding 47 to 27 win against West of Scotland. Both sides seemed to have thrown the defence playbook out of the window and cut loose at every opportunity thus providing the spectators with a great afternoon’s rugby. Also the 2nd XV had a emphatic win on the adjoining pitch.
Tomorrow the visitors to West Lodge are Hillhead/Jordanhill and hopefully another free scoring afternoon is on the cards. H/J are languishing at the foot of the table without a win but have shown some form in the last couple of weeks so we should not be complacent in trying to secure the bonus point win. The ko is 2pm so once again set aside the Christmas shopping and get to West Lodge for another cracking afternoon of rugby.
The 2nd XV travel to East Kilbride to take on the league leaders. There is plenty of spirit in the squad and even Percy has been to training in the last couple of weeks!
The Junior Conference continues with our opponents being Biggar. The Micros are at the usual time on Sunday with the Xmas Party on the 18th December when volunteers are required to assist – see a Coach on Sunday.
This weeks’s newsletter sponsor is La Vita Piccolino and Vino, the very fine Italian restaurant on the Old Mearns Road at the Broom Shops. Their website http://lavitapizzeria.co.uk/piccolino/ will give you an idea of the menus.
The Clubhouse will be shut on Christmas and New Years Day and will open at 2pm on the 26th and 2nd January. Please book your tickets for the New Years Party at the Club from behind the bar.
Also check out our new web site www.whitecraigs.org
Have a great weekend.
Let’s hope we get the same magnificent weather again this Sunday for Micros Training. As usual, we meet and register in the Players Bar – can I ask that we all stay in the Players Bar as a lot of the Micros are in the habit of going straight to the pitch and not registering – at 11.15hrs and then on the pitch from 11.30hrs to 12.30hrs.
I mentioned at the end of training last week our emphasis on Child Protection, given the current issues prevalent in the news, where our Policy will soon be posted within the website to show everyone our safeguards and procedures on such matters.
On a lighter note, we have the Christmas Party on Sunday 18th December 2016, instead of training. Please could you bring a crisp £5.00 to cover the cost of the rugby related gift for the Micros. Volunteers are always appreciated and thanks to those parents who have stepped forward to offer support for this event.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
