Minis P4 – P7
At Whitecraigs we have teams at all ages from P4-P7. Any children in these age groups, female or male, are welcome to join us.
We run midweek training on a Wednesday evening, usually at 7pm, and have a full list of friendly games home and away from September to May with a mid-winter break. Matches tend to start around mid-day and all matches follow the SRU’s age grade variations and the aim is developing core skills not the result. We aim to play with a philosophy of keeping the ball alive ensuring that all players have the maximum chance to be involved in games.
Contact skills are developed safely with a strong emphasis of good technique in line with the SRU guidance at this age. However the overwhelming aim at this stage is for the players to have fun and enjoy playing rugby.
Coaches all are PVG checked and have completed the World Rugby “Rugby Right” qualification. Coaches also have or are working towards the UKCC Level 1 Coaching Award. We are always looking for additional help for all aspects of the Minis so please get in touch if you would like to help.
If your child is interested in trying rugby then please get in touch and we can provide you with the details of training. Please contact David Fernie on 07825 336 786 or email email@example.com.
Micros P1 – P3
Whitecraigs Micros welcome any male, or female player to join our training and games, with the emphasis on fun and safety and rugby themes to get young children interested in the game. We follow the SRU’s Core Skills Programme and at this level there is no contact, other than some rough and tumble. We realise that at this age the children cannot fully comprehend the laws of the game, so we have Tag Rugby for the P1-2’s and Touch Rugby for the P3’s. We do have games against visiting clubs and occasionally play away from home. We train on Sunday mornings from 11.30hrs to 12.30hrs (registration at 11.15hrs) and leave the option of being inside, or outside, depending on the weather. We do not train/play during East Renfrewshire school holidays. Our coaches all have the minimum World Rugby “Rugby Ready” qualification, are PVG checked and we have First Aid training. Any parent wishing to help in training in whatever form would be more than welcome to join us – it’s great fun, so have a try and then we can get your membership sorted. If you are interested in coming along, feel free to call Jon Jewitt on 07989 502 810, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to hearing from you.
