Hamilton made a strong start to the tough task required. The Whitecraigs defence working hard to choke the Hamilton attacks. Hamilton had a beneficial share of the possession with intense, gritty play and penalties awarded.
The first half was a battle with only two tries scored, both by Hamilton to end 12-0.

On 70 minutes the score was close 19-14 and a sense on tension circulated around the Hamilton supporters, Whitecraigs were back in the game and an edgy 10 minutes remained. Hamilton scored on 80 minutes to win with bonus points to avoid relegation.
