Moray were Whitecraigs opponents today in the Arnold Clark National League Division 4. It was a chance for ‘The Mighty’ to climb the table from 7th to 5th. Moray in 5th place on 31 points with +20 for/against points could be caught by Whitecraigs, who on 26 points and -8 for/against points needed the perfect game and result. A full 5 points and a winning score margin greater than 23.
A challenge but a mouthwatering incentive.
Whitecraigs started with high intensity against the far travelled visitors confining them to their half, the Whitecraigs intention was clear to see by their performance from the outset.
Whitecraigs scored early on 6 minutes and converting, they were off to a positive start…..
….. Then ‘The Mighty big blue juggernaut’ was in runaway mode. Whitecraigs dominant scoring 6 tries by half time and the score margin and try bonus achieved by half time leading 40-0.
Whitecraigs needed a controlled performance in the second half to stay ahead and deny the visitors any point bonus. The performance of the team and individually across the team per player was commendable in defence and attack. Moray scoring a nice try on 65 minutes but Whitecraigs scored 3 more to close the game out in impressive fashion. Final score 59-7 and 5th in the table.
